The incident occurred during the night of December 9–10 in Węgliniec (Zgorzelec County). At around 3:00 a.m., unknown perpetrators tried to break into an ATM.

According to the police’s preliminary findings, the attempt was unsuccessful. Activities in the case are ongoing. The would-be burglars could face up to 10 years in prison.

Let us recall. On December 1, after 2:00 a.m., someone drove a passenger car into the glass sliding doors of a Tesco supermarket in Bolesławiec.

Was this an attempt to break into the store? Doubtful, because there are employees in the supermarket at night. For this reason, suspicion arose that the driver was probably targeting the ATM. The driver fled the scene, and the police set off in pursuit.

What is more, in mid-November we reported that a similar incident had occurred in Gromadka. In an email to the editorial office, a reader wrote:

While driving past the bank, I noticed a large number of police units and a huge hole in the wall of the bank, where the ATM was.

Earlier, we reported that during the night of September 11–12, unknown perpetrators tried to break into a Biedronka store on Wróblewskiego Street in Bolesławiec. At around 4:00 a.m., the alarm went off inside the premises. The duty officer of the District Police Headquarters sent officers to the scene.

It turned out that the perpetrators had tried to blow up the ATM built into the supermarket wall. However, they did it so ineptly that they failed to steal anything.

It is not yet known whether these cases are connected. We will certainly return to the subject.
