A reader wrote to us about the road markings on the Bolesławiec–Dobra road (road no. 350):

Before the road was reconstructed, there was a broken line on the section leading to the bridge over the railway tracks. Now there is a double solid line. This causes absurd situations, because in Dobra itself there is a broken line and many drivers overtake forcefully, just to get ahead before leaving Dobra, so that they do not have to overtake vehicles such as tractors, excavators and buses on a solid line.

He added:

And then whoever manages to do so overtakes hastily in Dobra. If not, they either drive behind that vehicle or overtake on the double solid line.

I drive along this road several times a day and I think that a broken line could easily have been used along the 400-metre section (counting by the roadside posts), and there would be no problem.

We asked the police about the matter. They also see the problem.

Leszek Loch, head of the Lower Silesian Roads and Railways Service:

I inform you that the current road markings comply with the approved design for the permanent traffic organisation issued by the traffic management authority for provincial roads, namely the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

But he immediately adds:

After analysing the road situation, we are initially inclined to introduce a change to the road markings at the indicated location.

For this purpose, DSDIK in Wrocław will prepare a design for changing the permanent traffic organisation, which will be submitted to the traffic management authority for provincial roads for approval and, once approved, implemented in the field.
