Bolesławiec police officers, as in previous years, are continuing activities as part of Operation Winter, whose main aim is to prevent threats to the lives and health of homeless and helpless people.

Let us recall. On Monday, 28 January, we reported that the body of a 68-year-old homeless man had been found in a garage on Wąska Street in Bolesławiec. Investigators ruled out the involvement of third parties.

Another tragedy of this kind occurred on Tuesday, 12 February, in the morning, on Ceramiczna Street in Bolesławiec. The body of a 59-year-old homeless man was found there; he had lived in a construction container for years.

The preventive measures undertaken by officers will aim to limit incidents with tragic consequences and provide assistance to as many people in need as possible.

Police:

Activities carried out as part of the operation include the ongoing monitoring and inspection of places where homeless people may stay.

Officers will also pay particular attention to people under the influence of alcohol—in circumstances posing a threat to their lives. While carrying out the operation, officers will cooperate with other services and institutions.

All activities will be assistance-oriented; consequently, while performing their duties, officers will provide those in need with information and all possible help in reaching facilities that assist homeless people and others requiring care.

How can you help?

Bolesławiec officers also appeal to all residents of our county to inform the police and other services about every person they notice sitting at a bus stop or in a park, as well as about people under the influence of alcohol or in a similar situation that could lead to hypothermia.

Officers:

Let us not pass such people by indifferently. In such cases, it is enough to respond and notify the appropriate services.

Let us remember that someone’s life may depend on our involvement and assistance. Sometimes even one phone call is enough.
