The incident occurred on October 27, at around 11:10 p.m., on Jana Pawła II Street in Jelenia Góra. Preliminary findings by investigators indicate that a 25-year-old driver of a Seat, most likely traveling at high speed, struck two people crossing at a pedestrian crossing: a 47-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man. The victims died at the scene.

The 25-year-old was sober. Three people were taken into police custody: the aforementioned Seat driver, as well as the driver and passenger of the vehicle traveling directly behind him.

Police and the prosecutor’s office are currently investigating the causes and circumstances of this tragic incident in detail.
