The duty officer at the Lubin police station was notified that a man was abusing an animal in one of the apartments in the city. A patrol from the prevention department went to the scene.
The officers established that during a drinking binge, the apartment owner grabbed a 4-month-old kitten and threw it from the third-floor balcony.
The perpetrator was drunk. He had more than one per mille of alcohol in his system. The 61-year-old told the officers that the cat had irritated him all day. The final straw was when the animal broke a vase with its tail.
The officers called a veterinarian to the scene, who assessed the kitten's condition as serious.
The animal was taken to a veterinary clinic, while its owner was taken into custody. After sobering up, he was charged. The man must now pay a PLN 2,000 fine and PLN 1,500 in compensation for an animal-protection-related purpose.
