Officers from Police Station II detained two men, aged 21 and 24, suspected of theft.
On September 23, the two Jelenia Góra residents entered a church and, taking advantage of the absence of other people and the priest, stole a wooden collection box and a triple gong. The value of the stolen property was estimated at PLN 1,600.
The thieves were unlucky because the collection box turned out to be empty. (They most likely threw away the gong because they decided it would be of no use to them.)
What is more, officers determined that the younger suspect was also responsible for stealing... 100 metres of electrical cable from the boulevard then under construction in Cieplice. The value of the cable was estimated at PLN 1,200. The thief sold it at a scrap-metal collection point.
Both Jelenia Góra residents could now face up to five years in prison.
