Chojnów police officers were called to intervene. The caller said that a man was on the bridge over the Skora River, threatening to jump in a moment. There was not a moment to lose. The officers turned on their lights and siren and immediately headed to the scene.

The 44-year-old resident of Chojnów municipality was sitting in the middle of the river, at the edge of the waterfall. He threatened to kill himself. He was determined.

Without a moment’s hesitation, the officers jumped into the water and, almost at the last moment, grabbed the desperate man and pulled him to safety.

The man was tested with a breathalyzer. He was drunk; there were nearly two per mille of alcohol in his system.

An ambulance took the would-be suicide victim to a hospital in Legnica. The 44-year-old is alive only thanks to the police officers’ swift and decisive action.
