On September 2, at approximately 5:05 p.m., officers on Jana Pawła II Street in Jelenia Góra noticed a VW whose driver exceeded the speed limit in a built-up area. (Where the limit was 50 kilometers per hour, the driver was speeding at 74.)
The officers signaled to the man and indicated where he should stop. He slowed down and pretended to pull onto the shoulder. But when the officers approached the car, the suspect accelerated and drove away.
After several minutes, the fugitive was stopped.
The driver turned out to be a 27-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. The man had behaved strangely from the outset. He was very nervous, and there was a distinct smell of marijuana in the car. Indeed, the suspect had weed on him. He had probably also been driving under its influence. (His blood was collected for testing.)
What is more, it emerged that the 27-year-old was wanted because he had to serve a two-year prison sentence for theft.
The man could now additionally face up to three years behind bars.
