The duty officer at the Lubin police station was informed that, in one of the localities in Lubin Municipality, a Ford driver was behaving aggressively. And that he was probably drunk. A traffic patrol was sent to the scene.

The traffic officers will certainly not forget this intervention. It turned out at the scene that a legless 62-year-old man had got behind the wheel of a vehicle not adapted for people with disabilities. He was so drunk that he had put his prosthetic leg on his arm. He used it to operate the brake, accelerator and clutch.

What is more, the man was subject to a three-year driving ban, and the car itself was uninsured.

The 62-year-old was caught because he stopped and asked for directions home. The people who initially wanted to help him detected a strong smell of alcohol on him. They therefore prevented the disabled man from driving any farther.

The test confirmed the suspicions of the residents of Lubin Municipality and the police. The disabled man was drunk; he had nearly 2.6 per mille of alcohol in his system.

The 62-year-old could now face up to five years in prison.
