On Wednesday, August 22, a Reader called us, a professional truck driver from Bolesławiec, who had read an article about how a man traveling from Bolesławiec with his partner apprehended a completely drunk truck driver.
Our Reader noticed that there is a witch hunt online against truck drivers, even though not everyone should be judged by the same measure. He himself had a situation similar to the one described in the article. On Sunday, he was driving with his wife in a passenger car and noticed his colleague, a MAN truck driver, driving erratically. And in the morning hours!!!
When the latter pulled into a gas station, our Reader tried to take his keys. Unfortunately, the drunk truck driver locked himself in the cab and drove away, nearly ramming the car of the Bolesławiec resident who had intervened.
Our fellow townsman notified the police about the whole matter. They checked the truck in the municipality of Nowogrodziec. And indeed, the MAN driver was completely drunk; the 53-year-old from Giżycko County had more than 2‰ of alcohol in his system.
The 53-year-old was detained. He now faces up to two years in prison.
“Not all truck drivers are the same,” our Reader concluded. “There are also those who catch their colleagues in the act. And I am not talking about promoting myself. It is about reacting, because what if this man had killed someone from my family on the road? Or someone I know.”
At the end, the Reader shared a sad reflection with us. He followed the truck driver weaving across the road for 30 km. Other drivers also saw the 53-year-old’s behavior, yet only our interlocutor notified the police…
