On Saturday, August 4, shortly after 5:00 p.m., reports began reaching the command post of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec concerning the effects of torrential rain and strong winds. The storm passed through the municipalities of Nowogrodziec, Osiecznica and Bolesławiec.

Over the course of several hours, State Fire Service and volunteer fire service crews from our county responded as many as 36 times. Operations were carried out in Nowogrodziec, Gierałtów, Czerna, Wykroty, Zebrzydowa, Gościszów, Parzyce, Kierżno, Kliczków, Osiecznica, Osieczów and Bożejowice. Trees were removed from roads, downed power lines and damaged building roofs were secured—in total, 24 incidents. In addition, our uniformed officers assisted with pumping water from various facilities 12 times.

After the operations ended, the firefighters had barely had time to rest before, on August 5 at around 4:30 a.m., they were dispatched to a fire at a hall belonging to the former brickworks on Ołdrzychowska Street in Nowogrodziec. The fire was extinguished before 11:00 a.m.

In total, rescue and firefighting operations involved crews from the Wykroty Volunteer Fire Service, Gierałtów Volunteer Fire Service, Czerna Volunteer Fire Service (2 crews), Nowogrodziec Volunteer Fire Service (3 crews), Nowogrodziec II Volunteer Fire Service, Zebrzydowa Volunteer Fire Service, Brzeźnik Volunteer Fire Service, Trzebień Volunteer Fire Service, Parowa Volunteer Fire Service, Ocice Volunteer Fire Service, Gościszów Volunteer Fire Service, Przejęsław Volunteer Fire Service, Osiecznica Volunteer Fire Service, as well as crews from the State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit in Bolesławiec.
