On August 3, at noon, the duty officer of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police received a report that someone was burning waste in a home garden on the Kwiatowe estate—and, during the unbearably hot weather, had smoked out the entire street.

The officers located the place. Indeed, clouds of thick smoke were rising above it. As it turned out, a woman was burning plant remains in a fire pit. The officers ordered her to put out the fire immediately.

The woman tried to explain that she did not know who had set the rubbish on fire on her property. She added that, in any case, she did not even have matches at home.

Her explanations were of little use, however—the offender was fined. The municipal police officers say:

Once again, we remind you! The quality of the air and our comfort of life, and often even the health of ourselves and our loved ones, depend on us. Burning plant remains in the open air is prohibited within the city of Bolesławiec. Biodegradable waste should be composted or delivered free of charge to the Selective Waste Collection Point, located at 6 Staszica Street in Bolesławiec.
