On August 6, at around 4 p.m., a woman reported to the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra and asked for help finding her son. He had not returned home for the night, and in the morning he sent her a disturbing text message. In it, he said that he had had enough and that his loved ones would never see him again.

After 2 p.m., he contacted his mother twice; he confirmed his intentions and then stopped answering the phone.

Police immediately began searching for the 25-year-old man from Jelenia Góra. In surveillance footage, they noticed that he had boarded a train to Wrocław. The duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters asked officers from the units along the train’s route to stop the desperate man.

At around 7 p.m., the man from Jelenia Góra got off the train in Wrocław. There, he was detained by officers from the capital of Lower Silesia. The 25-year-old explained that he had not planned to travel to Wrocław; it had been only an impulse. (On the train, he was considering how to take his own life).

The man was placed under medical care.
