A duty officer at the Zgorzelec police received a report that a detached house in the Pieńsk municipality was on fire. A police patrol and the fire service were immediately dispatched to the scene. The man suspected of setting the building on fire was detained with the help of residents of the neighboring property.

Fortunately, no one was in the building, so nobody was injured.

It turned out that the arsonist had been staying in the aforementioned building with the owner's permission. However, the two men had an argument over the payment for his stay. The angry 42-year-old then went to the neighbors, borrowed a lighter and set fire to his temporary accommodation.

The resident of Zgorzelec County has already been charged with damaging property. He admitted to the crime. He now faces up to five years in prison.
