On July 15, at around 9 p.m., someone called the police emergency number and reported that the driver of a Mercedes might be intoxicated.
The police decided to check the information. When they spotted the vehicle in question, they attempted to stop it for a roadside inspection. They signaled to the driver to stop, but he did not respond; on the contrary, he began to flee. The officers gave chase.
The man was stopped after several dozen meters. It turned out that he was a 53-year-old German national who had no documents. What is more, a distinct smell of alcohol could be detected on him. (The test showed nearly 2 per mille.)
The 53-year-old was taken into police custody. The German man could now face up to five years in prison.
