The initiative is a response to the increased interest among individual clients in investments related to trading “virtual” currencies, as well as in the Forex market. The campaign’s organizer and partners want to draw attention to the risks faced by potential investors in these areas.
The campaign also aims to warn people who want to invest their money not to trust entities offering easy, guaranteed and high returns. There is a high probability that such ventures may be financial pyramids—that is, structures not supervised by the state, in which profits depend exclusively on payments made by people at lower levels of the structure.
In such a case, the structure operates on the principle that new participants must join continuously in order to provide payouts to those who joined it earlier. This makes the structure unsustainable, and it must ultimately collapse.
Participants in a financial pyramid usually discover that the venture is a fraud only when difficulties arise in meeting its obligations to clients, or even when it collapses. Clients of such an entity then have little chance of recovering all or part of the funds entrusted to the company.
In this way, they become victims of fraud and lose their money, often even their life savings. We therefore warn against reckless and uncertain investments.
