Zgorzelec traffic police stopped a 50-year-old resident of Opole County for a roadside check on the A4, in Żarska Wieś. The man was travelling in a Volkswagen.
As soon as the vehicle doors were opened, the officers had no doubt that they were dealing with a drunk driver: a strong smell of alcohol, slurred speech and a lack of meaningful contact.
The officers' observations were also confirmed by a breathalyser test. The 50-year-old blew nearly 3 per mille.
The man has already lost his driving licence. He could now face up to two years behind bars.
