During a conference held on Wednesday, May 30, at the County Office headquarters on Armii Krajowej Street, the subject of American troops came up again. Deputy county head Tomasz Gabrysiak said that he had met with officers from the Inspectorate for Armed Forces Support of the Republic of Poland. And, as he heard, the number of American soldiers in our county will be “growing radically” over the next 3–4 years.
What could this mean for the residents of Bolesławiec and the county? Further road investments, because the Law and Justice government will have to adapt the infrastructure to the needs of the US Army. (Local government officials from our county are to prepare a list of the most urgent needs.)
Pizzerias, restaurants and clubs also profit from the Americans. The problem, however, is road infrastructure that is not adapted to the traffic of large military vehicles. We reported in February 2017 that US Army soldiers were having trouble getting through the narrow roads in Bolesławiec.
See how an American tanker barely fit—with the use of the pavement—on the narrow Emilia Plater Street in Bolesławiec. The footage was recorded on June 1. Thanks to Marek for the video.
