Officers from the Economic Crime Unit of the Municipal Police Headquarters and the Border Guard Post shut down another illegal excise-goods sales point in Legnica. At one of the city marketplaces, tobacco products and alcohol concealed in hiding places and bearing no Polish excise stamps were discovered and secured.

The officers seized nearly 20,000 cigarettes, 5 kg of tobacco and 48 litres of illegal spirits. It was estimated that if the goods had reached consumers, the State Treasury would have lost PLN 23,000.

Based on the collected evidence, the officers charged a 38-year-old man with possessing tobacco products and alcohol not marked with Polish excise stamps. Cash amounting to PLN 15,000 was secured from the detainee as security for a future penalty.
