Nowogrodziec officers, while patrolling the town of Wykroty at night, noticed a passenger car towing another vehicle. It turned out that the towed vehicle had been stolen that same night, just a few minutes earlier, from the Nowogrodziec municipality.

The officers determined that three residents of Zgorzelec County, aged between 22 and 25, had broken into the aforementioned car. Since they could not start it, they decided to tow it.

All three were taken into police custody. What is more, it emerged that the perpetrators had committed a number of other thefts. These took place in the Osiecznica municipality. Their haul included a horse-drawn cart and a car trailer. (Additionally, the suspects broke into garages in Zgorzelec County twice).

The officers searched the residential and farm buildings occupied by one of the detainees and recovered the stolen property. The items were returned to their owners.

All three now face up to 10 years in prison.
