The incident occurred last weekend. Officers from the Zgorzelec traffic police detained a 52-year-old Ukrainian citizen who caused a collision at a petrol station. A strong smell of alcohol was noticeable on the man. It turned out that the suspect had more than 2 per mille of alcohol in his system.
Seeking to avoid responsibility, the Ukrainian offered the police officers a €100 bribe in exchange for them discontinuing their official duties.
The 52-year-old was detained and has already been charged. The prosecutor's office imposed bail of PLN 1,000.
The detained Ukrainian citizen could now face up to 10 years in prison.
