The incident occurred on the night of March 16–17. The 26-year-old woman broke into one of the churches in Szklarska Poręba. She opened the tabernacle and took liturgical vessels containing communion wafers. She scattered the wafers and... set them on fire.
In addition, the suspect left several candles burning, causing the pews to catch fire. She came close to burning down the entire church.
The 26-year-old was arrested inside the church. She was first taken into police custody and then, at the prosecutor’s request, remanded in custody by the court for two months. She faces up to 10 years in prison.
