On Friday (March 2), the City of Ceramics bid farewell to the second rotation of US Army soldiers. The formal farewell for the contingent of American troops stationed in Bolesławiec was shortened. Performances on stage and other attractions had originally been planned. Unfortunately, the plans were thwarted by the low temperatures that have persisted throughout Poland for several days. One of the Americans was affected and fainted during the ceremony. Fortunately, the soldier recovered after a while. This was not the first such incident. In February 2017, during the welcome ceremony for the first rotation, two soldiers fainted (a Pole and an American).

The brief farewell for the American soldiers was attended by the command and soldiers of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, where the Americans were stationed, the municipal and county authorities, and a small number of Bolesławiec residents. The commander of the 82nd Engineer Battalion, Lt. Col. Jesse Curry, thanked the authorities and residents for their warm welcome and kindness during the six-month period stationed in Bolesławiec. I would like to thank the soldiers standing before me and the residents of Bolesławiec for welcoming us as if we were their own army, Lt. Col. Curry said. He also announced that the third rotation of American troops would arrive in Bolesławiec soon.
