A resident of the Ścinawa municipality called the Lubin police duty officer. He reported that some men were loitering on a disused railway line. The men were reportedly loading railway tracks onto a car trailer.
The two suspects were arrested in the act. They turned out to be residents of Wołów County, aged 24 and 28. They had driven to the Ścinawa municipality in a car with a trailer. They knew that some rails still remained on the disused railway line. The company that was supposed to dismantle them had removed only some of the rails. The thieves decided to help it out. As they told the police, they only wanted to clean up there.
The losses were estimated at nearly PLN 4,000. The stolen property was returned to its owner, while the members of the “clean-up crew” were taken to police custody.
The 24- and 28-year-old men now face up to five years in prison.
