The duty officer at the Police Station in Chojnów was informed of the theft of approximately PLN 700, which was in a can intended for a charity collection for sick children. The can was located at one of the retail outlets in the city.
Police determined that the theft had been committed by a young man who had taken advantage of the staff's momentary inattention.
The 19-year-old was completely surprised when police officers arrested him. He was certain that he would get away with the crime.
The man was taken to the Chojnów police station, where he was charged with theft. The teenager now faces up to five years in prison.
