The arrest of the 29-year-old man from Lubin, who fled from officers in a vehicle stolen in Głogów, was made possible through cooperation between three police units. The first alert received by the Lubin police came from officers in Polkowice County. The information indicated that license plates had been stolen in Chocianów. The suspect was reportedly driving a BMW towards Lubin. Meanwhile, the Głogów police duty officer informed Lubin officers that the vehicle in question had previously been stolen in Głogów.

Police officers from Lubin spotted the BMW in Krzeczyn Wielki. They began pursuing it. The driver did not respond to the officers’ visual and audible signals and fled towards Lubin. At one point, he stopped the vehicle. When the officers got out of their patrol car, the suspect suddenly accelerated towards one of them. The officer’s quick reaction prevented him from being hit.

Additional patrols and officers from the Independent Police Prevention Subunit in Legnica joined the pursuit. The fugitive was highly determined. He sped along pavements, forcing pedestrians to flee, and drove through intersections against red lights. Because of him, other drivers had to pull onto the roadside.

Ultimately, the 29-year-old was arrested on a dirt road. He was taken to police custody. It emerged that he also had two more car thefts, break-ins at cellars, and the theft of batteries and fuel to his name. (The victims’ losses exceeded PLN 100,000).

In total, the man from Lubin was charged with 9 offenses. He was remanded in temporary custody for 3 months. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
