Legnica police officers from the department for combating economic crime received information that companies selling counterfeit goods online were operating in Legnica and the Krotoszyce municipality. The officers immediately investigated the matter and, together with a Warsaw law firm representing the aggrieved owners of trademarks, inspected the registered offices of the companies in question.

The information obtained by the officers was confirmed. Plush toys, watches, mixers and water heaters had been unlawfully marked with the trademarks of well-known companies.

The police seized more than 800 “counterfeit” plush toys, 60 mixers, nearly 100 water heaters and more than 800 watches. (The value of the seized goods was nearly PLN 370,000.)

The owners of companies that put counterfeit goods into circulation could face heavy fines and even up to two years in prison.
