The incident took place on Monday, October 9, in the evening, in Mirsk (Lwówek County). Police officers from Gryfów Śląski wanted to stop the driver of a Volvo for a roadside check. However, he did not stop—instead, he accelerated and began to flee.
The officers gave chase. After several minutes, they stopped the fugitive. It turned out that the 39-year-old driver was completely drunk. He had a blood alcohol level of 2.7 per mille. What is more, the man had violated a court-imposed ban on driving any vehicles.
The 39-year-old now faces up to five years in prison.
