The incident occurred on Złotoryjska Street in Legnica. At 1:30 a.m., officers from the Legnica traffic police wanted to stop a Renault Clio for inspection. The Renault driver did not stop; on the contrary, he accelerated sharply. The officers began a pursuit.
A moment later, the fleeing driver entered a lane closed to traffic and struck a kerb, damaging the car. He therefore got out of the passenger car and began fleeing on foot. He was arrested after a few metres.
It then became clear why the 36-year-old had fled. He had neither a driving licence nor a valid third-party liability insurance policy. What is more, the vehicle he was driving was not approved for road use.
The suspect was taken into police custody. He now faces up to five years in prison and even a 15-year driving ban.
