In addition to monitoring the behavior of drivers and pedestrians near educational institutions, officers meet with children at schools and preschools throughout Zgorzelec County. The talks prepared for young children as part of the operation are intended to improve the safety of the youngest road users.
Police officers meet with first-grade pupils to remind them of the basic rules for moving safely on the roads. They discuss how to cross the road correctly, how to move along it when there is no pavement or shoulder, and how to behave in places where they wait for buses to arrive.
“Let us remember that children’s safety also depends on their parents and guardians. Above all, they are responsible for their children,” say the Zgorzelec officers. “When driving a child to school, you should also remember to stop in a permitted place, so as not to obstruct the visibility of other drivers and pedestrians crossing the road.
