The incident occurred on Friday, August 11, on Hutnicza Street in Lubin. Traffic police officers noticed a motorcyclist whose motorcycle had a bent license plate. (This was intended to prevent the vehicle from being identified).

The officers gave the rider a clear signal to stop. Instead, he accelerated and began fleeing through the city streets. A police chase began.

The motorcyclist ran several red lights at intersections, endangering other road users. At one point, he collided with a car. The motorcycle overturned. The offender began fleeing on foot. Without success. He was arrested moments later.

The rider turned out to be a 29-year-old man with no permanent address. He gave the officers his brother’s details. This did not fool the officers, however. It emerged that the offender was wanted on arrest warrants by several police units and prosecutor’s offices across the country. He is due to serve a total of five years in prison.

What is more, the offender had acquired the motorcycle he fled on by deceiving its owner. (He showed him a bank transfer that he had not actually made).

The 29-year-old will go to prison and will also face charges for fleeing from the police and fraud. He now faces up to eight years behind bars.
