As part of efforts to improve safety in Jeżów Sudecki municipality, the local authorities funded and equipped the district police officer, Staff Sergeant Piotr Dzieniak, with a device for measuring the alcohol content in exhaled air.

On 19 July, Piotr Dzieniak and Staff Sergeant Marek Sadowski detained a 52-year-old man suspected of driving while intoxicated. The detainee was unable to leave the vehicle under his own power. He was completely drunk; the test showed more than 3 per mille of alcohol.

The 52-year-old now faces up to 3 years in prison, a substantial fine and a driving ban lasting several years.
