In Bolesławiec, authorities have never yet towed a vehicle that was improperly parked or parked in a place where parking is prohibited, for example next to private shops. Of course, there are drivers who have been fined for improper parking, but towing a vehicle involves far greater costs than a fine. You have to pay for transporting the car on a tow truck and for parking it in a guarded car park. The rates depend on the municipality, but the costs are still calculated in hundreds of złotys.
Junior aspirant Tomasz Kazimierczuk from the Road Traffic Department of the Bolesławiec Police explains:
When it comes to towing a vehicle, if a driver fails to comply with a no-stopping-and-no-parking sign accompanied by a plate stating that the vehicle will be removed at the owner's expense, the vehicle will be towed to a guarded car park. If a vehicle is parked in a place that poses a threat to road traffic safety, it may be towed at the owner's expense. We have not yet had such a case in Bolesławiec. However, you have to take into account the consequences of the vehicle being towed. Signs also apply outside public roads, at retail chains, shops and supermarkets. A vehicle can certainly be removed from such a place as well. The procedure is that a police officer or a municipal or local-government security guard issues an order to remove the vehicle. Once that order has been written, even if the person who parked improperly arrives, they will still bear the costs of the entire procedure.
