Police officers wanted to stop the driver of one of the cars leaving the A4 motorway for a routine check. The woman driving the passenger car did not stop; on the contrary, she began to flee. The officers gave chase, resulting in the arrest of both the car and the two people travelling in it: a 31-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant and a 20-year-old man. Both are residents of Zgorzelec County. What is more, it turned out that they were travelling in a car they had stolen in Bolesławiec several days earlier.
Furthermore, in the recovered car, officers found a number of items whose origin the detainees were unable to explain. Among the items secured were, among other things, the registration certificate of another stolen vehicle and insurance policies.
Preliminary findings by the officers indicate that the suspects committed several break-ins involving cars parked in Bolesławiec, Zgorzelec, Lubań and Legnica counties, and also stole two cars in Bolesławiec.
Both detainees face up to 10 years in prison.
