Police officers from Kowary detained a 22-year-old resident of Podgórzyn Municipality suspected, among other things, of the temporary use of a vehicle. On the night of May 17–18, in one of Kowary’s car parks, the man broke into a Citroën and drove away in it. He abandoned the car several hundred metres from the scene. It was no longer fit to drive because he damaged the steering column while starting the vehicle.
The police established that, while walking from Kowary to one of the localities in Podgórzyn Municipality, the man had tried to start six other vehicles in a similar manner. Without success. The suspect explained to the officers that he simply wanted to get home.
The 22-year-old faces up to five years in prison.
