The incident occurred in Wierzbowa (Gromadka Municipality). The 41-year-old resident of the municipality performed an overtaking maneuver incorrectly and struck the side of an Audi driven by a 46-year-old man. Moments later, the person responsible for the collision drove away from the scene. However, he did not get far. After approximately 2–3 km, he lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a ditch.
As it turned out, the Fiat driver was completely drunk, with 3 per mille of alcohol in his system. Fortunately, the 46-year-old victim suffered no more serious injuries.
The person responsible for the collision now faces up to two years in prison.
