The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 3, in Bolesławiec County. Police received information that the driver of a Mazda was having trouble driving properly. Officers immediately located the driver. They signaled for him to stop. However, the suspect did not do so; on the contrary, he accelerated sharply and began to flee. The officers gave chase.
At one point, the fugitive turned onto a dirt road. He abandoned the vehicle there and continued fleeing on foot. What is more, he threw an object resembling a firearm into the bushes.
A larger number of patrols, as well as a police dog, were brought into the operation. The 26-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County was arrested shortly afterward in the Nowogrodziec municipality. The abandoned object was also found. An expert examination will determine whether a permit is required for this firearm.
The 26-year-old may face up to 8 years in prison.
