The incident occurred on April 11 at around 8:00 p.m. While patrolling the Chojnów municipality, police officers from Legnica spotted a Fiat in Kunice that was driving across the entire width of the road. The officers wanted to stop the driver for a check, but he accelerated and began fleeing, completely disregarding road signs and forcing other road users to brake sharply and move out of his way.

The fleeing driver sped along at nearly 130 km/h. He stopped at… the entrance gate of one of the properties. He then got out of the car and began fleeing on foot.

He was arrested after a brief chase. He is a 39-year-old man from Złotoryja County. The man was completely drunk; a test showed more than 3‰ of alcohol in his system. What is more, the road pirate had neither a driving licence nor a document confirming third-party liability insurance with him, and the registration plates had been transferred from another vehicle.

The 39-year-old now faces up to two years in prison.
