Information about a joint operation by community police officers and traffic police, during which officers issued as many as 8 fines for speeding within an hour, was commented on our forum by Andy:

“We invite police officers here, we invite them there.” What a sociable society. The fines were issued on Śluzowa, where they slapped on a 40 km/h limit. UNJUSTIFIABLY.

This is what it looks like. A few law-abiding citizens get together (usually retirees, comrades without cars, community activists) and submit an application for a speed limit and speed bumps on the road. The authorities happily approve it, while thousands of people are furious when they have to crawl along with a 30 or 40 km/h limit.

Andy was answered by Anonymous: “Eeeee, 40 km/h on Śluzowa really is excessive. There is a rest area nearby, so it should be at least 200 per hour.” Anonymous was echoed by Marcin: “A cemetery and a kindergarten are not a reason to impose a speed limit? So what else has to be there for a limit to be needed?”

Sergeant Marta Kubiak, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, informed the istotne.pl service that such matters are decided by the road administrator (in this case, Bolesławiec County) and that officers simply enforce the regulations. What is more, the police have so far received no indication that there is anything wrong with the signs on Śluzowa. Road workers from the County Roads Authority also disagree with the Reader’s opinion, especially since the speed limit has been in force there for quite some time.
