On Sunday, February 26, at around 2:30 a.m., a security guard informed the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica about the theft of wood from a sawmill in the Prochowice municipality. When police officers arrived at the scene, the thief was already gone. However, near the scene of the incident, officers spotted a VW Golf matching the description provided by the security guard. Its driver, upon seeing the officers, jumped out of the car and began to flee. The man was detained.
The 29-year-old resident of the Prochowice municipality admitted to the theft. What is more, it turned out that he did not have a driving licence. He now faces up to five years in prison.
