The arrest took place on 22 February. While patrolling Kawice, district officers from the Legnica police headquarters noticed a tanker in a parking area by a petrol station. A passenger car with its boot open was parked next to it, and empty canisters were nearby.
It turned out that the 36-year-old tanker driver, a resident of Jelenia Góra County, and a 19-year-old from the Prochowice municipality wanted to steal diesel fuel. They had prepared canisters with a total capacity of 150 litres. The theft was prevented thanks to the district officers’ vigilance and swift response.
Both men were taken into police custody. They face up to five years in prison.
