The criminals called seniors and pretended to be a daughter who urgently needed money. Three female seniors immediately called their families. When they spoke to their real daughters, they were certain that someone had tried to deceive them.
A 91-year-old man, meanwhile, received two phone calls: one from an alleged daughter and another from a fake police officer. The sensible senior was not fooled and called the Bolesławiec police station to verify the caller’s identity. Well done!
– Let us remember that police officers will not contact us by telephone about any important matter; they will come to the apartment or house instead. They must also show their official ID. In addition, we can confirm the presence of any police officer in our home with the duty officer by calling 997. It is an emergency number, so you do not even need to have money in your account – Bolesławiec officers remind us.
They add: – We continue to appeal for common sense, caution and vigilance. Scammers try to extort money especially from older people. They are exceptionally devious and unscrupulous. Criminals also impersonate postal workers, prosecutors, CBŚ officers and employees of various institutions.
