After the anthems of both countries were played, a decision to establish cooperation between the 4th Squadron of the 10th Cavalry Regiment, known as “Black Jack,” and the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade was read out. The 4th Squadron of the 10th Cavalry Regiment is part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division. A symbolic exchange of emblems also took place between the commanders of the battalions and the companies of the Świętoszów brigade and their American counterparts.
This gesture was particularly significant because it launched the Polish-American training program whose aim, as noted by the commander of the 10BKPanc, Colonel, PhD Dariusz Parylak, is not only mutual learning and standardizing operating procedures, but also developing interoperability. The commander of the armored unit added: “Today we are hosting our allies from the 10th U.S. Cavalry Regiment, with whom we will cooperate at battalion, company and, which seems to be the most difficult, platoon level as well. It is a demanding task, but we, the soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, are most eagerly awaiting the moment when the roar of tank engines, cannon fire and machine guns will be heard. This is precisely our mission for 2017—a joint, productive allied training program.
As stated by the commander of the 4th Squadron of the 10th Cavalry Regiment, Colonel Chad R. Foster: “We thank you for the wonderful welcome given to us by our colleagues from the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, as well as by the residents of the nearby towns. In return for this warm reception, we want to repay you by conscientiously carrying out all the tasks ahead of us. The coming weeks will bring joint training, during which we can learn a great deal from one another. We will build understanding and friendships at platoon level, as well as between individual soldiers, which will further strengthen the ties between us. Over time, this integration will lead to an increased ability to defeat any opponent. The “Black Jack” soldiers are proud to stand in formation alongside the Świętoszów tank soldiers.
