On January 2, Legnica police officers carried out the “Sober Morning” operation. At 1:30 a.m., on Zachodnia Street, they stopped a 29-year-old Ford driver who was driving across the entire width of the road. The man clearly smelled of alcohol. (The test showed nearly 1.2 per mille.) The man was taken into police custody.

Another driver with no imagination turned out to be a 44-year-old man who was stopped at 6:24 a.m. on Domejki Street. The Mitsubishi driver got behind the wheel with 0.6 per mille of alcohol in his system. A short while later, at 7:00 a.m., officers stopped a drunk moped rider in Chojnów (nearly 1 per mille of alcohol in exhaled air).

At 8:00 a.m., traffic police stopped the record-holder—a scooter rider—in Ruja Municipality. The 54-year-old had nearly 2 per mille. All four now face up to two years behind bars.
