PiS failed to portray Kubik as a communist secret police officer
Some of Bolesławiec’s right wing do not like the fact that the Smolensk plaque will be installed on Kubika Street, that is, the street of an “UB officer.” The problem is that there is no evidence that Bolesławiec’s first postwar mayor was an officer of the security services. In March this year, a letter on the matter was sent to Mayor Piotr Roman by Law and Justice councillor Jan Russ, Ryszard Łoś of the “Gazeta Polska” Club and Rev. Edward Bober, an honorary citizen of Bolesławiec. What is more, the open letter was also sent to Law and Justice MPs, who could read in it that the people of Bolesławiec wanted to install the Smolensk plaque on the street of an “UB officer.”
