On Thursday, the trial of the kidnappers of a 14-year-old from Bolesławiec began before the Jelenia Góra court. “The men partially admit to the crime. However, they deny threatening the father that they would kill the child,” Onet.pl reports. Patryk J. and Mateusz N. face up to 12 years in prison.

The son of a Bolesławiec entrepreneur was kidnapped on March 5. Twenty-year-old Patryk J. and 21-year-old Mateusz N. lured the teenager out of school. They claimed that his father had been in a car accident and promised to take the boy to his injured father. The men drove the middle school student to allotment gardens. The 14-year-old was held in a shed. The boy tried to escape. After his first escape attempt, the kidnappers tied him up and threw him into a pit partially filled with water. The men called the kidnapped boy’s father and demanded a ransom of PLN 400,000. Bartosz’s parents notified the police. The boy managed to escape a second time. He broke through the boards of the garden house and began calling for help. Bartosz was helped by people who heard the child’s screams. The police apprehended the kidnappers on March 7. The following day, both were remanded in custody by the court.
