Last Saturday, criminal investigators from the Zgorzelec police station arrested a young man in Jerzmanki who was riding... a bicycle. This might not have been particularly unusual, but it was the middle of the night and temperatures were below zero. During the identity check, the 33-year-old behaved very nervously. As it turned out, he was carrying two bags containing a psychotropic substance, commonly known as “piko.”
What is more, it emerged that the man may be linked to a series of thefts and burglaries, including those involving cars and cellars. Officers have already proven that he committed nine thefts and burglaries, which the suspect allegedly carried out from September to December this year. The 33-year-old stole, among other things, mountain bikes, car radios, and even fishing and surveying equipment.
According to the officers’ preliminary findings, the arrested man’s criminal activity caused losses of nearly PLN 16,000. Officers recovered the surveying equipment. Efforts to recover the rest of the stolen property are ongoing.
The suspect confessed to all the acts he was accused of committing. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
