The incident occurred on November 25. Before 9:00 a.m., Czech police officers attempted to stop for a traffic check the driver of an Audi A4 with German registration plates. On seeing the officers, the driver accelerated and began fleeing toward the border with Poland. The Czechs pursued him and notified the police in Jelenia Góra and the Border Guard. On one of the bends in Szklarska Poręba, the fleeing driver lost control of the vehicle and left the road, hitting a wall. He was unharmed.

The 39-year-old resident of Lubin was arrested. Officers found trace amounts of amphetamine in the car. Moreover, the vehicle driven by the fugitive had been stolen in Germany during the night of November 24–25.

The resident of Lubin, suspected of handling stolen goods, faces up to five years in prison. The man is under police supervision and is prohibited from leaving the country.
