Officers from the Prevention Division of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra detained on November 5 the driver of a Volkswagen T4, a 31-year-old resident of Trzebnica County, who was transporting illegal cigarettes, tobacco and alcohol without Polish excise duty stamps. In the vehicle, the officers found and secured nearly 16 kg of illegal tobacco, 10 litres of alcohol and 10,000 cigarettes. The State Treasury’s preliminary losses were estimated at more than PLN 14,000.
Police officers are currently clarifying the circumstances of the case in detail, including where the illegal goods came from and who they were intended for. The detained man faces a hefty fine. The officers impounded his car as security for potential future penalties.
