A 44-year-old resident of Bolesławiec died after being struck by part of a hydrant. His body was found on Tuesday morning in the economic zone on Modłowa Street. The man was trying to dismantle a fire hydrant and loosened the spindle. The unscrewed component struck him in the head with great force.
The man was probably involved in selling scrap metal. Police have already established the deceased man's identity. “Several water-sewerage system devices, including hydrant equipment, had previously disappeared in the area. We cannot rule out that this case is connected with the earlier thefts,” Grzegorz Górski from the Bolesławiec police told Boleslawiec.org.
